( Personality ) :
There is a reason that Yata was accepted into the Red clan: his very personality is fire. He's hot headed to an extreme and hard to contain. Yata has a tendency to rise to bait very quickly, making him easy to provoke. He's down for a fight at the drop of a hat, and it takes a very stern and steady hand to force him to cool his heels for a second and actually think about a situation (not that it happens all that often, even then). Those around him have come to expect this sort of thing for him, and even find it to be an endearing quality.

There are two ways to get to him very quickly, if one wants to rile him up as fast as possible: call him by his first name, or make fun of his height. He feels that his first name, Misaki, is incredibly feminine, and he hates hearing it said out loud (but especially if the one calling him by it is a certain stupid betrayer known as Fushimi). As for his height, he stands at a grand 167 cm (or roughly 5'5 ¾"). As a young man who is undoubtedly done growing for the rest of his life, this is highly unacceptable.

Not that this is readily available. Yata's self-confidence is through the roof, and he's pretty damn convinced that he's the best around. The fact that he is actually really good at what he does probably doesn't help matters anyway. Amongst HOMRA, he's considered one of the strongest next to Mikoto himself (as stated by Kusanagi: he says that he himself can't really be ranked, as he doesn't fight, and suggests that the strongest aside from the King would be Yata). As acting vanguard of HOMRA, Misaki takes on the moniker Yatagarasu, the name of the Crow-God in Japanese mythology. He makes a fantastic scout thanks to his speed on his skateboard, and being such a strong fighter lends him to being good for forward attacks.

Yata has a loyalty streak in him that's wider than the world. He takes being in a Clan incredibly seriously, and he would lay down his life for any one of his fellow clansmen. That being said, he takes betrayal terribly personally. Those who do anything to jeopardize the clan, or those who leave, are immediately put on his personal shit list. This includes friends he's had for ages: it doesn't matter if you've known him since he was born, if you betray the clan and Mikoto, if you betray him, you are no longer a welcome part of his life. He holds grudges like no one else.

Despite his tough exterior, Yata has a really pretty gooey and soft center. He feels emotions very strongly (which is why his anger is so explosive), and he certainly isn't afraid to cry when the need overtakes him. When Totsuka passes away in his arms, he weeps openly over the deceased body; he even gets that poor broken screaming. He's not someone to put a stopper on his emotions. If he's happy, his elation could probably produce sparkles in the air. If he's sad, it'd be best to let him cry until he feels better. If he's angry, you better get the fuck out of dodge because him and his baseball bat are coming for your ass.

Probably one of the most random (and ridiculously adorable) parts of his personality, however, is his apparent fear of girls. Likely just a remarkably socially awkward teenager, Yata has a real problem speaking to girls. However, he also tends toward a Knight in Shining Armor feeling toward them. He's the type who, if he sees a girl being harassed, he'll step in and beat some assholes up to protect them. He even yells at one of his HOMRA buddies for scaring some girls at the school when they're trying to find someone, even though he had pointedly ignored the unspoken accusations when the guy pointed out that they had only asked other guys for information, and hadn't spoken to any of the girls.

Yata's always got his skateboard and baseball bat on him, and his headphones don't... actually do anything. He's just a Cool Kid.

Also, as a Red clansman, he has abilities that aren't entirely normal human abilities: namely, he has access to the red "aura" which is a lot like adding fire element to his attacks.

( Sample ) :
"Mikoto-san!" The yell bounces off the low-lying buildings surrounding the center square, rising above them to dissipate into the air. "Mikoto-saaaaan!" More echoing, and eventually the call gets traced back to its source.

A young man, soaked from head to toe from his recent entry into the bubble, makes his way up and down various alleyways, his skateboard making a rhythmic and noisy clackclackclack against the ground as he uses it to make his search go by faster. This isn't right. Wherever the hell this is (seriously, are those fish outside that glass?), Yata showed up horribly alone and unable to find anyone else. Anyone at all. He'd have even taken seeing that asshole monkey's face over this intense, crushing feeling of being alone.

Last he knew, Mikoto-san was broiled in an intense battle with the blue King, and they had all been forced (Yata physically) to abandon the school in order to get to a safe distance. Yata had been watching the state of the swords in the air with a high amount of intensity when, next he knew, he was falling through water, only to wind up... here.

"Mikoto-san! Kusanagi-san! Anna-chan! Someone answer me, god damnit!"

Once more things echoed. Once more, his call went unanswered.

Yata scowled deep enough he'd probably have a headache later and he kicked off the ground again, zipping back through the square, past the coral, to try another section of the city. He can dry off later, after he's found someone.

He has to find someone.
